    How to name desktop computer

Have desktop computer running Damn Small Linux connected ethernet LAN not being reported in DHCP table.

How do I asign a name to it? In Windows from Control Panel I would click on the System icon. There is tab for General, you click on it and are prompted for computer name and work group. How do I enter this information in DSL?

    Thank you

I appreciate your taking the time to reply to my question. I am very interested in getting some hands on experieence using Linux on the desktop. Last week I was not successful in making contact with someone who could give me hands-on step-by-step instructions.

I down loaded Damn Small Linux and created a bootable CD. I can boot the Presario from it. I would like to connect the Presario to the Internet. I can position it next to a notbook that does connect. Could you give me a Cheff's tour and help me find my way around.

If you are wanting to know about the command line, please give us the commands you want to know about and someone can help. Otherwise, take a look at LinuxCommand.org for lots of information on learning commands and the shell:

LinuxCommand.org: Learn the Linux command line. Write shell scripts.

Also, you can find lots of info on each command by going to a terminal and entering:

    Code:
    man command-name
