Hi zKilla,
Kinda new myself but SUSE has a very nice interface if your new to linux, also runs many appz, ...you can try Knoppix it will run from cd. First take inventory on all your components and see if they have Linux drivers available, most do but some are still unsupported .......have fun!

I would try Ubuntu. It is very friendly for new users. Or download a bunch of live CDs and see which you like best. Thats what I do. Thats why all my drawers are full. :/ I just threw away 23 old live CDs a few days ago. :0

Hmmm...your request is kinda vague.
What is it you would like to do?
What do you mean by cool?
What hdwr specs are on your "slower" PC?

Have a look at the link in my signature for lots of good information on getting started with Linux. There are some distribution choosers there that will help with picking a distro, too.
Have fun with Linux!

Hello dear zKilla.
I am using the operation system "SimplyMEPIS 6.5"/Linux. The 32bit version.
This distro is not yet very known, because there was hardly any money invested in marketing the product, compared with Ubuntu, where millions where spent.
Nevertheless, Mepis has a high rating under the distros.
If you will, it is undervalued, like a good wine can be, just because not discovered by many people.
So it is a insider tip.
I am sure, you would like it and its qualities. It is downloadable from the Mepis website.
If you have any further questions, just ask me.
Kind regards,
Alexander

Hi zKilla,
I think I understand you.
Well, you will have to burn or buy a LifeCD with a Linux operation system on it.
Then when you have got such a (bootable) CD, you only have to put it into your CD tray of your computer.
If it should not boot, you will have to set the so called "booting sequence" of your BIOS.
To get into the BIOS, you can ask us for instructions, once you get that far.
So, without the CD, no Linux, right now. So be a little patient, and you will be able to work with a Linux operation system very soon.
If you have a CD-burner, you could download Linux (whatever distro you have chosen...) and burn a CD.
I hope this helps. Thank you.
Take care, see you,
Alexander
