there are text based browser's in most distro's

    try

    lynx

    or

    links

there are a few others i think as well, but lynx is the most popular as far as i know.

links is actually better, imho, because it displays tables correctly. It makes console browsing easier.

    Text mode and Internet

Use any program for using internet in console mode, for example:

For use the web: Links or Lynx.
For IRC: Ircii, *****X or Epic4.
For Mailing: Pine (better program eh xD) or Mutt.
    For FTP downloads/uploads: Lftp.

Also there are a alternative programs for use internet in text mode.

    Have fun dude.
