Opera and Panning with the Mouse

I've been trying for like a day and a half now but haven't been able to find info on it that helps. How do I get the middle mouse buttons to allow panning? Just like in IE or Firefox, when you press the button down you can scroll/pan horizontally and vertically at once.

In Opera: Tools > Preferences > Advanced
There is a button labeled "Middle click options" which gives you a popup
with the option to check "Start panning" as the middle button action.

Seem to only scroll up and down though (in Opera 9.24).

    cheers, kai
