    yea you can.
    Check the Recycle bin

Else, you need a file retriver program

Depends how you deleted it and system setup ... may be lucky and find it in trash (or similar - depending on distro). Otherwise you could try one of several system/file recovery utils ... RIP etc.

    Thank you, Robin and Jonathan.

I did try to open the trash bin, before I opened the tread here, but I wasn't able to, because of a permission and execution problem:

Where can I find the file in the directory, so that I could possibly set the permission from there, as root?

    Thank you.

I guess the location is distro specific but for SUSE 10 its in the user home area
eg /home/jonathan/.local/share/Trash/ ... I don't remember changing any defaults for this.

    Thanks, Jonathan.

I was able to look into the trash can.

A new file was not inside, so I presume, that I hadn't deleted any files.

    Thank you.

    Which distro are you using?
If you remember the find name then execute this
    Code:
    cd /
    find -iname file_name
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    Thank you, Casper.

    My distro: "SymplyMEPIS 6.5".

The missing file did however show up, in a other folder.....

    Thank you.
