what are the best i.s.p to use with linux ? appearatnly mine doesn't support linux at this time. are there any cheap dial up ones ? thanks...

Keep in mind that because an ISP doesn't officially support Linux doesn't mean that it won't work with Linux.
It's just that most ISP employees are reading from support scripts geared only to MS Windows. If you ask them a Linux question they go into an instant state of shock not knowing what to say, except that they don't support Linux.oz

Yeah, 'not supporting Linux' means that the helpdesk employees have no script for Linux. But in my experience they also have no script for Firefox. 'Click the blue E' they told me when my mothers Ubuntu machine didn't connect to the Internet.
Just say yes to these kinds of questions. The menu's may have different names between the systems, but both use the same protocols configured with the same details to establish a connection.Can't tell an OS by it's GUI

ok, I was hoping that's what they meant,I don't use the "tech support" any how,I was afraid they meant the modem wouldn't be able to connect using linux. thanks for the info
