    Version of XFree86

Hey, i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to check my version of XFree86, because i need to install a radeon driver and i need the version. Also When i try to install XFree86 version 4.3.0 i get this error:

    Checking which OS you're running...
uname reports 'Linux' version '2.6.6-1.435.2.3', architecture 'i686'.
Object format is 'ELF'. libc version is '6.3.3' (6.3).

You need to download the 'extract' (or 'extract.exe') utility
and put it in this directory.

When you have corrected the problem, please re-run 'sh ./Xinstall.sh'
    to proceed with the installation.

any idea what its talking about?

    thanks

Well I have X.org, but im pretty sure the command works:

    X -version

just do that in a console, and it should let you know. Also, ATI has a check.sh script you can download and run...from the same place they offer the drivers.

As for the Xfree message....are you sure you are getting the right file? Im a little confused as to why it would say you need an exe file...as thats a windows extension But thats probably outta my league anyways...ill let someone else answer that for ya
