where will the files get created wen a sw is installed?[fc6]
hi,
in windows wen a sw is installed ,irrespective of the location of the installation file(.exe) ,files corresponding to the sw will be created in "program files" folder.similarly in fc6 wen i install a sw where will the files get created? is this irrespetive of the location of installation file[rpm,tar etc]?

Linux is not Windows and it doesn't store packages in a single location. Files are distributed according to their type and permissions.
/bin, /sbin, /usr/bin for binaries and /lib, /usr/lib etc for libraries.
Check filesystem structure here.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
