    Which distro for HP Pavilion dv6436nr Laptop?

    I have a HP Pavilion dv6436nr Laptop and ubuntu Gutsy running on my server. However Ubuntu 7.1 hangs while booting the livecd on my laptop. I was wondering which distro would be best for working in conjunction with my server as a desktop on my laptop?

    Welcome to the forums, ckennow!

    Unless someone else running the same laptop happens to reply, you are probably going to have to experiment with some other distros to see which one(s) work well for you. I've read comments from other posters saying that Ubuntu and openSuse run great on most laptops. Since you've tried Ubuntu, maybe openSuse would be the next logical step.

    I've also heard that Sabayon pretty much works out of the box on most lappies, but it's heavy on eyecandy, so that might not be what you are looking for.
