Need help quick, access and read/write NTFS!
I downloaded the latest version of Knoppix (5.1 something 2007) because I need to access my NTFS drive on my computer and delete some files. I will take my chances with using direct NTFS access fron knoppix. can anybody please tell me how to access my ntfs hard drive? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, 003!
When you boot the Knoppix CD, doesn't the NTFS drive show up as a button directly on the desktop relating to that partition/drive?
If it does, you should be able to click on the button to mount the drive and then you can access it through the file manager built into the liveCD.oz

Hmm... no it dosen't show up. I forgot to mention it's a SATA hard drive. Is there still a way to do this? I really need to delete some files.

I really thought Knoppix could detect sata drives.
Check this thread to see if it helps any:

Hopefully, someone more familiar with Knoppix and sata will chime in with some clues.oz

Hmm... I seem to be having the same problem as the starter of that thread, those commands dont do anything. No error or messages or anything. My motherboard is an abit IP35-E. I really have to get this to work, is there any other linux distro that will do this?

I'm sure Knoppix CD mounts read only for disk partitions anyway.
I'm not sure about the motherboard issue but PartedMagic CD has a mount utility that definitely gives read/write access to NTFS partitions including on SATA drives - which might cure the original posters problem.

Not sure, Jonathan... I was thinking they added write access to Knoppix like in version 5.0x something, or other, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, hopefully 003 can utilize the suggested PartedMagic LiveCD to fix the problem:
