    problem installing mysql-3.23.58-pc-linux-i686.tar.gz


    i typed the following commands

    tar -xvzf mysql-3.23.58-pc-linux-i686.tar.gz

    then it started unpacking . . . .

    then i wrote:

    cd mysql-3.23.58-pc-linux-i686

    then:

    ./configure

    there was written "mysql session ended" or somewhat like that

    then i typed:

    make

    then it wrote no make files found


    then i tried make install but nothing happened:::::::

    please tellme what is it


    or can it be solved by having a rpm file for mysql... im using redhart 9

    Are you sure you have the source i seem to rember mySQL prefers to install binarys you might have that package (you can do it from source). read the install docs with the file to check.

    this isnt a solution as much as a comment, it will be much easier to read your post if you utilize the 'code' key in BBcode. If you use that to identify all the commands you used, one can tell what youve entered into your compuer and what is part of your description. Sometimes something wont work correctly because of something as simple as syntax.
