yum install gcc doenot work

Hi,


m new to linux. Adding to the above problems.
M using a VMware player and have downloaded fedore 8 imgae.
The problem with vmware image is that they don't have installed gcc.
When I am trying to install gcc using yum install gcc
it is giving following error
[root@localhost sangu]# yum -y install gcc
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
No package gcc available.
Nothing to do

Kindly let me know what m i missing
