    Boot Error after installing Ubuntu.

First of all, i'm totally new in the world of linux, so please don't make things te complicate for me

    Now my problem:

My computer has 2 internal harddrives, on 1 i have installed windows vista ultimate. I was alwase cuiriouse about linux, so i decided to download Ubuntu and install it on my external harddrive.

Everything in the installation worked fine, but when i wanted to reboot my computer and try'd to boot into Ubuntu i got this message: Error while loading the operating system.

Then i decided to acces Vista, but i got the error:

    Grub Loading stage1.5

    Grub loading, please wait...
    Error 21

I get this error with or without te external harddrive connected.

    The things ive tried are:

Try to fix the MBR with the windows recovery console on the cd.
    (This didn't work.)

Does anyone know what to do now? I've searched google alot but i can only find problems with Windows XP, and that recovery console doesnt work here on vista. And the vista recovery console isnt verry helpfull, it doesnt recognise any commands like "fixboot" or "fixmbr" .

Sorry for my rubbish English, but i'm Dutch .

You should be able to get windows to boot by using the SuperGrub CD - Super Grub Disk 0.9673 - Linux Downloads Directory. You should also be able to get Linux to boot with it.

Once you get Linux to boot you should run fdisk -l and post the output and also post the grub configuration file.
