Files and Folders Getting Started
Is there a Wilki I can used to get started with files and folders, I am using Vector Linux5.9
What is the equivalent of Mycomputer, Mydocuments, etc.
I had the openoffice targz on my desktop but I could not see it from my desktop folder.
I believe I have a /home partition where I would store my data so would I create folders there for example " data", "my pictures", etc?
Do I have to run defrag in Linux and do I need a firewall?
Thanks

You should be able to use your file manager to easily navigate to your /home directory and then create new folders/files there, probably by using a right-click of the mouse.
Some files in your home directory will have a dot (.) in front of them, meaning they are hidden from normal view. Check the menu in your file manager for the option to view all files, or view hidden files.
I've been running Linux for almost 8 years and have never defragged or needed to defrag, so you probably won't either. You'll find there aren't many, if any, defrag tools for Linux.
Read this short article and decide for yourself if you want/need a firewall.oz
