hangs after login
I have an old HP with ME installed. I had Fedora 7 working fine and decided to upgrade to 8. Downloaded to DVD on my other machine.(home built) and installed seemingly w/o problems on the old. It starts, and as soon as I log in the screen goes dark and the lights start blinking on the keyboard. Have reinstalled and the same thing happens. Can anybody help.
Thanks.

Hi and Welcome !
Which Graphics Card do you have? Post your machine's specs here.
Is Fedora booting up in Single User Mode?It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
The Graphics Card is Nvidia TNT PRO 32 MB AGP-4x card
And yes I am in single user mode
The Machine is a HP 9870 - came w Windows ME
423 pin P 4
384MB RDRAM (came w 12
160 GB Drive
As soon as I can afford new guts I'll get rid of ME, but for the time being I'm stuck with it.
Thanks

Its a Graphics Card problem only. You have to re-install Nvidia Driver. Use vesa driver to fix GUI problem.
Execute this
Select vesa driver and restart machine.Code:system-config-display

Casper, thanks for the help.
I don't know what happened - the code didn't work so I reinstalled the whole thing again and everything seems ok.
I'm sure I'll screw it up some more down the road, but every time I mess up I learn something.
Thanks again
