How to Create Samba Share Point?
We are using a Knoppmyth box as our digital TV recorder. But, we also use it as the place for backing up the computer on our home network.
A few months ago, my kids' love of Mythbusters (measured in hundreds of gigabytes) bumped into our ability to backup. We were out of space. So, I installed another drive and used it for the backup, freeing my kids to create a very large Mythbusters archive.
I didn't know how to set up the mount point for the new drive as a server volume, so I just stuck a symbolic link to it from a spot that was successfully being served. Since then, I have had to run fsck regularly (another education) on these volumes and boot times have been VERY long.
Can someone point me to a resource where I can learn how to configure the new drive to be shared using Samba?
Thanks,
Gary

Check out the Gentoo tutorial: HOWTO Setup Samba - Gentoo Linux Wiki
Also read the man pages and Samba websites documentation and you'll be fine.
I just fixed my Samba as I followed tutorials too blindly but after reading the man pages I got it all fixed.
