    There are a lot of 'best linux' threads out there, but which is the easiest to learn if youre coming from windows? which one is a good starting one to help you learn how your new system is different fromyour old one?

    You'll get differing opinions on this just like you do with the best linux, so it's really impossible to say what is the easiest Linux for everyone.

    Linspire claims that they are the world's easiest desktop linux:

    Linspire - The World's Easiest Desktop Linux

    I've never tried it so can't say how easy/hard it is.

    Mandriva, openSuse, Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS, and Mepis are often considered easy distributions. I've used all of them but can't say which is truly the easiest.

    Ubuntu and Mandrake (now mandriva) where the easiest for me to use.

    Ubuntu

    I've put about 10 people on Ubuntu (from windows) including my mother who knows nothing about anything that requires electricity (not joking). There's been no problem across the board and now my girlfriend wants to switch over as well because how lame Vista is. I would say try out the Gutsy live cd for a few days and if you like it go for it.

    Easy to install and gave my parents a head-ache free internet for a few months.
