Software install, WTF I thought this was gonna be easy
I need a easier way to install S/w
the command line "LS" is not showing me anything when i download my s/w to /usr/local/src/
There has to be an easier way or application that can just , start a startup.exe file.
This is a major reason i did not use Redhat.
Im now using Ubuntu 7.10
The s/w i have tried to use so far is.
Netgear wpn111 installer. zip
Adobe Flash player.trz (whatever)

Here's a HowTo describing how to install software under Linux, depending on the distribution that you are using:

Of course, as is usually the case with Linux, there are also other ways of installing it that are not mentioned in this article.oz

If the ls command is not listing them, maybe they didn't actually get downloaded, or they were downloaded to a different directory from what you had intended, or you are not in the /usr/local/src/ directory when running ls.

Don't forget too, that you must have root permissions to write to a directory outside of your own /home directory.
