    Login to the root in RHEL 5

    Hi , im totally new to linux ,. i got my hands on RHEL 5 and i installed it on my system. The first thing that im trying to do is to login is a root , so i type in the shell
    Code:
     Login
    And im getting a user/pass , Im typing the user name that i choose in the installation program and the password but its says the the details are incorrect . Any1 knows why ?

    When the prompt first comes up, type your username, then the password to login.

    It's not a good idea at all to log in as root user, but you can su (switch user) to root once you've logged in as regular user.

    There are a number of reasons why you might be having this problem.

    The first thing you should look is if you have your caps lock enabled (or if you had them enabled when entering your user and pass during the installation, but do not have it enabled now). In linux, everything is case sensitive.

    It is possible to configure linux not to be able to login directly to the root user from standard consoles, but I doubt that any regular distro does that by default.
