Bought my buddy's computer...poss. linux box?
My buddy sold me his computer for $100. looks solid, id like to turn it into a linux box...I'm a total noob, tried to install SuSE on an old pentium III once...it actually kinda worked but I didnt keep that beast. Here's what I got now...
Cooler Master Centurion w/ 350w PSU
ECS K8T890-A motherboard (the AGP+PCI-E board)
AMD A64 3200+ 939 w/ stock cooler
1 GB Kingston Value DDR 3200 (? - its running at 333 mhz though...need to check the BIOS)
200 Gb WD SATA drive
Audigy 2 zs w/ front audio bay (isnt that a b**** to get working on linux?)
ATI 9200 substandard edition (DO NOT WANT, would like to get a PCI-E, last I checked Nvidia is preferred on Linux, still true?)
logitech wireless kb+mouse
compatibility issues? Its going to be hooked up to my TV, no serious programs, just fun media stuff, maybe TV card (?) and emergency workstation. I want a fairly straightforward (from a WinXP vantage) OS like Mandriva, Ubuntu, or SuSE but would any of these have unique difficulties with my build or are any uniquely useful for movie/media purposes?

Hi and Welcome !
Specs are good and all three distro will run fine on it. I would suggest you to boot up from LiveCDs of all those distros and check which one configure Hardware in most proper way.
Test distros using their LiveCDs and install the one which you like the most.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
