If you are running KDE, you'll find that Kpdf works pretty well. I think Gnome uses Evince to open them.

KDE is default DE of PCLinuxOS and Kpdf is pre-installed in it. Have you tried to open Magazine in Kpdf?

Evince is default PDF Viewer in Gnome and one can install Gpdf too.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I have tried to open the file via Konqueror but failed so i then went to the Start menu -> Office -> Publishing and then clicked on "KPDF". The program opens, so i go to File -> Open and select the Desktop and then i select: PCLOS_Mag_0701.pdf and click on Open. A bluish square appears on the left hand side of the screen and nothing else? What am i doing wong?

Can you post the link from where you got the magazine and I'll download and try it with Kpdf so that I can see what it is you are referring to?

When i double clicked on the "PCLOS_Mag_0170.pdf" i was informed that:
    KDElint could not
    launch '/home/ddraig/Desktop/PCLOS_Mag_0170.pdf'.

The link for the download is:
    PCLinuxOS Magazine

I just downloaded the Jan '08 issue and opened it with Kpdf and it works fine. It does take a few seconds for it to fully load, though.

Try right-clicking it, then choosing Open With / Kpdf. Make sure the window is opening big enough that you can see the full document. I also see the bluish square on the left side of screen. The magazine shows up nicely in Kpdf.
