    Java install

I recently installed the java plugin. I use Firefox. I had problems, so I thought I would post what I did to get it working for the benefit of anyone else who experiences similar difficulties.

    The directions are here:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.jsp

    The directions are incorrect.

    See the following section

    ------
    Enable and Configure

    # Mozilla 1.4 and later
    # Mozilla 1.2, Netscape 6 and later

    Mozilla 1.4 and later
    ----

    The following line is wrong

    ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so .

    It should be:

    ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_05/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so

The first bolded letter is the number "1", and not the letter "l"

(Yes, I am silly at times)

The bolded "5" replaces the incorrect "4"

Also, put the symbolic link in the .mozilla/plugins directory
