I looked into Linux years ago, and really like the open source concept. I do well with windows and custom build all my own PC's from scratch, but I'm a bit bored with that and decided that I would give Linux a try on my PS3. I am like a blind man in the jungle here. I can't even understand the instrutions and the language for the OS.

Example; Wifi doesn't work in the YDL 5.01 distro I'm using so I tried upgrading my kernel. I logged in as "root", but am having trouble with the command lines. i.e. The instructions tell me to type "cd /path/to/" and the location of my thumbdrive, which is "media/THUMBDRIVE". I keep getting invalid path. However when I type "cd /media/THUMBDRIVE" it goes to my thumbdrive. Am I in the correct place, or is "path/to/" supposed to be in the line?

I did install the kernel, but I'm not sure where, and I don't know if the OS is using it, or the old one.

I did get wifi to activate, but I see no communication with my router and firefox can't find server.

I really want to learn to use Linux, but 3 days of fighting to connect is getting me down.

Can anyone help? PLEEAASSEE!!!!

Here's a link to the instructions I followed.
