Smile Complete Newbie setting up Charity Site

    Hi all,

I really hope someone can help me please.

Im currently setting up a forum for children with vision problems. Hence it is not £ related and I would appreciate some kind advice.

    I have the following :

    1. (Hosting Service / Starter Package)
    2. Domain name
    3. Ensim pro access to control panel
    4. I have installed phpbb via my tools on the control panel (my host offers it as a "power tool"
    5. An SQL DB has been set up for use with this

I have been advised to upload any site content (which I havent even started on yet!) to /var/www/html

I put an index.html there with a simple message, but when I visit my site I just see a blank page?

How on earth do I make my forum visible on my Domain? How do I administer the Forum?

Do my webpages need to be in PHP or HTML ? (Plainly speaking I just want a holding homepage with a couple of images and text, with a link to the Forum)

    Please help me....Drinks all round

Is your 'index.html' page written in html? If it is, you may have a missing tag somewhere which could account for it. Have you contacted your web hosting service about this problem? If you uploaded a plain text file even with the 'html' appended it should still show up as a plain text file.

Is index.html one of the default pages? It normally is, but still it
is worth checking. It could also be permission related.

I would check with the hosting company.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Just a thought... Has your zone records of your domain been forwarded to your ip address of your server?
