    RedHat 7.3 -- Problems, problems.

    hi,
I hv 7.3 installed on an old computer. It was running fine, then all of a sudden it wouldnt boot into the Gui, Gdm. Cant startx due to some sort of problem which I have unsuccessfully tried to resolve - prob due to my lack of Linux savvy.
Anyway, can I install Ubuntu over the top of Red Hat without losing my current partitions and files etc??
I have Ubuntu running nicely on another PC, and have the cd's for it.
    Any help or ideas apprec.
    Kind regards.

You can install Ubuntu in th existing partitions. If /home is on a separate partition, then you personal data won't be lost (as long as you don't format /home at install time) although I suggest you backup any important data first.
