Installing software
Dear All
I am new the Linux and need help with installing new programs.
Is there a simple procedure for doing this. I am trying to install a Citrix file so I can login to my work VPN. THe file is en.linuxx86.tar.gz. I have tried to extract the file and save in into one of the root directories and it says I do not have the file permissions. Any advice would be really helpful and assume absolutely no knowledge on Linux.
Thank you
Wayne Bertrand

Hello, and welcome to Linux!
I imagine you're trying to do as in Windows and move stuff around by cutting and pasting. This is not possible in Linux: you need to be root (or sudo) to do this.
You've placed this thread in the wrong place. Perhaps a moderator could move it for you?Distribution: Archlinux

When you post a problem, don't forget to tell us what Linux distribution you're using too. This is very important when you have software installation difficulties as the exact procedure varies.
