    Question Battery Efficient AV Distro?

Many new laptops being released today come with an AV Mode. The AV Mode lets you boot into an AV (Audio/Video) "mode," i.e. a very lightweight ComputerManufacturerName© linux OS designed to only play media, thus being very battery efficient.

I like the idea of this; i.e. being able to have an AV mode on your laptop so your battery will last longer. I mean, imagine the benefits of being able to watch movies on your laptop on boring flights without having to power a "real" OS in the background if all you're doing is watching movies or listening to music.

I personally don't like the VAIO AV mode that my laptop came pre-installed with since there are no specs available for it.

I'd like to find out if there are any really battery efficient linux distros out there that would let me watch movies and listen to music without having to power an energy-sucking OS in the background that I'm not even using?

    Suggestions?

you may try Xubuntu, be sure to use power saving mode when running on battery.
Linux is not only an operating system, it's a philosophy.
