Hi everyone.

I would like an opinion on best way to set up network.

situation
1 RH8 server running samba bind apache etc.
1 xp machine running lotus domino
3 xp clients
other xp clients added occasionally (laptops)
1 router connected to ADSL modem.

should i configure a proxy server (squid) on the RH box and then proxy http requests or let the router deal with it?

I am going to use Lotus Domino as my postoffcie to relay mail to my ISP. so that isn't an issue. I will probably use the router direct for FTP access. The router does perform dns caching but not http.

any opinions.

I might set up squid anyway just for fun. But will that increase performance or lower it due to additional network traffic.
the router is connected to my hub via uplink port.
