ok,. firstly thx guys for the linux info, now i already run SLAX on my computer, but i boot through thumbdrive..i able to go to desktop now n use it.but ...

    ok,. firstly thx guys for the linux info, now i already run SLAX on my computer, but i boot through thumbdrive..i able to go to desktop now n use it.but the problem is is data is written to my previous HDD ? because i saw my C drive, previously windows drive got boot folder of linux..
    and now i dont have antivirus, should i have it? i have read through newbie area say that linux is unaffected by virus, is it true?

    While it's true that there almost no known viruses for Linux, there are still some security threats for Linux users in the form of Rootkits. These are kind of Linux's version of a virus, so there actually is anti-virus software available for you, and ClamAV seems to come highly recommended.

    ok, i mean is before i using linux, i am on windows xp which i install on C partition, now i use linux from USB boot pendrive, but data is wrriten to my drive(i mean C:\ partition which is windows) is tat true?
    and linux is unable to read chinese file rite?

    Linux doesn't write on Windows Partition by default and it doesn't support NTFS write access. It means, if Windows partition is formatted in NTFS, Linux can not write anything in it unless you enable NTFS write access.
    linux is unable to read chinese file rite?
    You have to install Chinese Fonts to read file correctly.

    erm, how to install chinese? where to find the file, and when i play song, y only left side got sound ? right side no even balance is in center.. my earphone n speaker confirm in good condition
