    problem with fedora 8

I just downloaded fedora8 and am having problems with Package Updater. The Resolving dependencies for updates seems to just sit there and not do any thing althoughn the cousor shows activity. I tried to uncheck half of the updates (852) and run again and this time it the updates were incompatable with dependencies. Can anyone help. Thanks in advance.

Which version of Fedora are you using?
    Execute this
    Code:
    su -
    yum repolist
    Post output here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Wow, this must be a trend with people enabling every single repo, whether they have use for it or not.

Please use Add/Remove Software to disable every repo except:

    fedora Fedora 8 -i386 enable
updates Fedora 8 - Updates enable

Then close the program and run from a terminal

    su -
    yum clean all
    yum update -y

and post any errors you receive.

    Not sure what you mean

All those repositories are not enabled by default, meaning you had to enable them all yourself at some point.

If you can't find the Package Manager in the menu then run

    pirut

    from a terminal.

THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME EVER FOR ME TO BE IN ADD/REMOVE SOFTWARE EVER.
I had to browse around to find it. as for being enabled by default I don't know how else it was enabled . the first thing i did after installing fedora 8 was try to down load and install the 852 security updates when I had the trouble. by the way what is this yum update -y suposed to do.
