Hello from New Mexico: installation problems
Hello from southeast New MExico, USA. I'm just a 35 year old dad that's trying to figure out what else his computer will do. I've got a HP Pavillion a404x with a GeForce MX4000 video card to replace the Intel video. Not having any luck with liveCD versions of Mandriva, Ubuntu, or OpenSUSE yet. I just get lockups during the setup process. No luck in finding any tweaks to get them running yet.

Welcome to the forums!
Maybe try the Ubuntu "Alternate Desktop CD" if you haven't already done so. It's a text-based installer (not a liveCD) that works every time for me, whereas the GUI (liveCD) installer doesn't. Look for the checkbox to select it right under the green Start Download link.oz
