    please help

    well i have laptop with windows vista on it and i heard that linux is better so i want to try. how can i do it plz im about to rip hair out of my head i searched for like deam 2 weeks and they send me somewhere else and it not going anywhere so plz if some1 can step by step im that bad with pc's and i realy wana try it plz

    Welcome to the forums e1gonight

    You should start by reading here. I suggest as an initial step you pick a distro you want to install and setup a dual boot so that you can still use Vista if you need to.

    You will find a link from the above to help select the distro for you, Linux Mint, openSUSE and Ubuntu are all fairly popular for new Linux users ... they are not the only options. Try a couple of live CDs if you can and pick a distro you like the look and feel of which works with your hardware.

    One last thing - make sure you backup your user data - photos, documents, pictures etc before you do the install or start resizing partitions.

    All good advice above. Whatever you do, don't forget to back up all your data and defgragment your harddisk BEFORE you partition it. Don't forget either to burn your disk as an iso otherwise it won't boot (loads of people forget or neglect to do this).
