Testing Linux application in Windows environment
I am attempting to port a program of mine from Windows to Linux platform, and I'd like to test it; as I don't want to waste time rebooting PC every time I want to test the program or to compare how it works in win to how it works in Linux, I need a linuxbox into windows.
I tried BOCHS, QEMU and AndLinux, but with all of them I always have the same problem: how do I share file among the two OS?
QEMU: mapping a drive to a folder does not work; no error message, just no additional drives appera under mnt
BOCHS: how do I edit a disk image using freeware tools, to add needed files.
andLinux: sharing folder does not work, they do not appear in andLinux.
So what?!?
I'm going to try VirtualBox, but the problem is the same: how do I send files from an OS to the other?!?
I use Windows XP Home edtion SP2.

You could also use VMware Player which is free. Just go out and find one of the free Linux virtual machines. You can play it with VMware and I've found sharing folders between the host and guest OS to be very easy.

I successfully configured VirtualBox for folder sharing and network sharing, but it was only possible with ubuntu; no way to properly configur mandrake, knoppix, redhat or anything else!!

besides, VirtualBox can't be installed on my office PC due to priviliges constraints, so I'm still stuck: how can I install linux inside BOCHS, or QEMU, or anything else, allowing folder sharing and network access?!?
