    OpenOffice can deal with a large number of Microsoft Office files. If it can't handle MS Office 2007 then save documents as .rtf (rich text format) which should be transferable.

    If you save using doc 97/xp/2000/2003 formats, then you can share files between OOo and MS Office 2007.

    Here is my short list of ways to open Office 2007 files in OpenOffice.org 2.x:
    * odf-converter-integrator to read Office 2007 files for OpenOffice.org 2.x
    * OxygenOffice with Word '07 import
    * Zamzar as an online Office 2007 converter

    Here's a long list of ways to do it.

    OpenOffice.org 3.0 has native support for importing (not exporting) Office 2007 files. You can test 3.0 now, but it is due final release in September.

    While OpenOffice.org 3.0 can share Calc spreadsheets live with the same application, you cannot live share spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel.
