Can someone recommend an application?
I am new to linux and I have set up a dual boot system with Ubuntu 7.10 and openSUSE 10.3.
I mostly use SUSE because my company is transitioning its servers to SUSE enterprise 10 this summer. I have a KDE environment on my SUSE set up, but I really liked the GNOME version of GNUCash, is there a good substitute for KDE?

I don't have any experience with accounting software but you may want to look into KMyMoney.
You don't have to stop using GTK/GNOME apps if you use KDE. You can use GnuCash in KDE - it may not look as nice but it will still work.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give KMyMoney a try and if I don't like it, I'll go back to GnuCash

Hi jrt77,
I searched the web for something similar to GnuCash only to alsy find KMyMoney.
What I did find is that they are planning on creating a converter of some sort so you can import your stuff from GnuCash to KmyMoney.
Here's where they're debating it
Good luck!

netstrider,
Thanks for the link, it was a good read. I am going to keep using GnuCash on my Ubuntu distro until I have to get rid of it and then I'll probably try running GnuCash on my KDE environment, or I'll just put both desktop environments on my machine and use one environment or the other depending on what I'm doing.

You should be able to install gnucash on openSUSE without the need to install the whole of GNOME. I run KDE, but use a few GTK/GNOME apps but GNOME itself is not installed except for a few libraries that are needed by the applications I use.
