    linux - lunix? Please Help

Hi all, looking at getting a pda phone which I am told has lunix as OS. I am very un-familiar with linux having only messed about on my desktop. Can some one enlighten me as to what the difference is (if any)? If different - would I be able to use apps and games for Linux on it? Any help would be appreciated - Barney

The proper spelling is Linux. Although Linux is designed to look and behave similar to UNIX, you do not spell the name like that. I've not had any experience with Linux on embedded devices like PDAs, but they usually come pre-loaded with all the usual applications and a handful of games. If you're interested in finding out if you can hack it and add more software to it, that's beyond my ability or interest.

Thanks for getting back to me, It is definatly LUNIX that is on the phone, I'm not sure if this is a variant on the old c64 OS which uses UNIX the same as LINUX - thus my confusion

I can see where you'd be confused; I am as well. If the phone says it uses "LUNIX", then I assume it's the C64 variant. Or perhaps a typo.
