Is linux.org still a good site?
I was reading this guide and it seems "archaic". Is it still good?
Linux Online - Getting Started with Linux: Table of Contents
Also, is this the best tutorial? I find that this tutorial has the author rambling about irrelevant things like history and he uses hard to folllow slang and references to "American pop culture" that makes it too hard to read and kinda anoying. Is there a more "professional" beginner tutorial out there?
Thanks.

There are literary thousands of beginner articles for Linux. That tutorial you mentioned is a bit old but still very relevant today. If you are struggling with it or don't like how its presented, try something else. Google search for "linux+beginner+tutorial" and you should get articles that may help you out.

I think your best bet would be to buy some books for Linux: Linux for Dummies (not that you are a dummy), You could buy a Redhat/Fedora book that usually has a CD to play around with too, so you can follow the book step by step. And one other thing, knowing a little history about Linux will only further your appreciation for all things Linux and Open Source in general.

Books? What are those? I though the internet had everything. :P
I just want to know how to use it and some details of the operation. Like if I was learning Windows, I don't want to know..."There once as a Harvard dropout named Bill Gates..." LOL. Interesting story, but who cares. That's me at least.

Netstrider has a site here which you may find useful. I always recommend an O'Reilly book called "Running Linux".
