Hello there and thanks for the welcome to the group.
I am using Linux Mint 4.0. I had made an HTML file which i wanted to keep on a CD-RW. So i tried to drag and drop the file onto the CD-RW and that's when i was informed that i didn't have permission.

Regular users have permission to make data/burn CDs.
Try this :
Press Alt+F2 and type this
It will open Nautilus with root privileges. Try to drop HTML file again.Code:gksu nautilus

Found my way to the cdrom0 folder and saw that the owner was "root" and also the group was "root". Couldn't i change the permissions here so that the username i boot up the computer with would have all rights?

Have you tried burning with the cd creator?
Not sure what it is in Gnome... brassero maybe? If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.
