    Hi and Welcome !

Which Linux Distro are you using? Which package did you use to make data CD?

Hello there and thanks for the welcome to the group.
I am using Linux Mint 4.0. I had made an HTML file which i wanted to keep on a CD-RW. So i tried to drag and drop the file onto the CD-RW and that's when i was informed that i didn't have permission.

Regular users have permission to make data/burn CDs.
    Try this :
    Press Alt+F2 and type this
    Code:
    gksu nautilus
It will open Nautilus with root privileges. Try to drop HTML file again.

Tried using: Alt + F2 and then typing: gksu nautilus. But i must be doing something wrong because after typing in my password i tried to drag and drop the HTML file and once again i got the same error message:

    Error while copying to "/media/cdrom0",
You do nothave permissions to write to this folder

Found my way to the cdrom0 folder and saw that the owner was "root" and also the group was "root". Couldn't i change the permissions here so that the username i boot up the computer with would have all rights?

Have you tried burning with the cd creator?

Not sure what it is in Gnome... brassero maybe?
