Problems WIth Installing
I recently got a live cd off of a friend for Ubuntu. I like everything about it and installed the OS. The only thing is that it's an older version of Ubuntu(6.06) and came with an older version of Firefox.
I wanted to install the new version, but I have no idea of where to begin. Could you please help?

Since Mozilla upgrades firefox frequently (at least every month) with security patches or new feature-based releases. here is a nice stuff that allows you to get the latest firefox automatically

Why don't you upgrade it to ubuntu 8.04 or make a clean install? It has new features and updated programs. It is easier overall to use as well. To upgrade it from internet go to Upgrading your existing Ubuntu installation | Ubuntu
The proccess is really easy if you follow the steps it mentions, but you should have a fast internet connection of at least a few MB/s. If you have not made a lot of customizations to your system you could do a clean install which will require much less time. (clean install <30 minutes, internet upgrade with 20mbps line took about 2 hours).

I actually did upgrade.
After I wasn't able to just install firefox, I just figured I'd upgrade everything and get the newest firefox with a new Ubuntu.
Thank you everyone for all of your help though.
