    well, i did an rpmfind search for hlds, and there were a bunch of rpms for mandrake linux, but none for RedHat. The advantages of an RPM is that you don't have to worry about dealing with .bin files etc... Well, I guess maybe you should re-download the binary and then try to install hlds again. Let me know what happens,

    Y E S i got it to work! it was an old version of hlds.. without any tar.gz
