    Open Office slow opening

I'm confident that others must have asked this question but I did a search using Open office and I couldn't readily see an answer but my apologies if the answer is very well known.

How do I speed up opening the application? I suspect there must be a simple way but if I only want to write or open something already created why should I have to wait until the Sun has gone down before I can do so?

Part of the problem I realise is my Linux system. It is an old PC deliberately bought for trying out Linux. It's a PII 233 mhz, with 96 mb ram and a 3.2 gb HD and I'm using Mandrake 10 Community Edition. I know I really should be using something better for MD 10 but so far, apart from the Open Office opening speed, everything works fine and I'm delighted with Linux. Yes i do keep a Writer icon on the task bar.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

as your system is not so fast,i would suggest you to increase swap space...that maybe solves the proble..although some applications like openoffice won't open quick as your processor is not so powerful..

    Try these threads:

If that still doesnt do it, use the search box on the left here:

The phrase you want is: "slow AND start"

Do you have anything else running while you start up OpenOffice? The amount of processes is usually a big factor.
