New Amateur trying to use Linux Mandriva
I have just installed Mandriva, however I have faced quite a number of problems, first is does not recognise my Nvidia GeForce 3d card, second it also does not recognise my sound card, this results in poor resolution and low quality sound. I am keen to work on it but then again it does not read the linux cd of which I am trying to install Jayuk/solfege/mixx/ subsonic. I would need a lot of help from you guys, since I am new to this OS, overall I know it can kick ass, cause' I have heard from people using it.
Looking forward to hear from you guys.

Welcome to the forums!
You will probably need to install the official nVidia drivers if you want full support for your card. If you are running the Mandriva PowerPack, I think that driver still comes with the package. Otherwise, you'll probably need to download and install the driver.
I'm not sure about the sound card issue. What card are you running and what driver are you using?
The easiest method of installing software under Mandriva might be URPMI. You can set that up by going here and following the instructions:
Easy Urpmioz
