    Interfaces Question

ok im not a newbie, ive been using linux for a file now, but just fedora, ubuntu and arch, ive never looked into this, but now im wondering, is there a standard for interfaces and resolv for where they are located

becuase in ubuntu and fedora to my best of recolection they are in etc/ but in arch they are in a custom config file yes? and even though ive been told suse has them in /etc as well they are slightly modified or moved to an extra directory they are still in the standard place

and fianally the reason im askin this, is because i really like using arch becuase i can choose to install a really basic system so its not clogged up with crap i dont need just wat i want, but i dont like the way it sets up its network settings, so i was wondering do u know of a good distro that gives u the options like arch for installing but is a bit more linux orintated? if im right that is

    thanks for any replys

If you are talking about the interfaces file, in Ubuntu it is in
    /etc/network/interfaces

    Just re-read your post

It sounds like Debian would meet your needs, it is what Ubuntu et al are based on.
You can do a really basic install if required.
