    USB to ethernet

To anyone trying to help thank you. I am trying to install Xubuntu on a computer running windows ME. It does not have an ethernet port, so I used a cables unlimited USb to ethernet adapter, which came with a small cd. I ran the cd and it has two files for the linux drivers. My question is , because the computer previously ran on dialup and dsl service is now installed, do I need to configure the drivers for windows ME first or Linux.

the installer will most likely detect the device automatically and load the right drivers for it, though ubuntu's installers tend to not need an internet connection, you do set it up during the installation.

the drivers are different for each platform, as in, you can install your windows me drivers and it will have no effect on whether or not you can use the adapter in linux and vice versa
