    Custom bootup messages

I have the boot-up text enabled along with the splash, so I get the nice Ubuntu logo, a progress bar, and under all the actions scrolling by. I'm wondering if it would be fairly simple to repress these messages and interject my own at certain points during the startup process? If this is not easily done, don't worry about it; I have another method in mind that's a little more work but just as effective I believe.

I... don't think you can, at least, not without coding/compiling your own usplash theme, which is something I'm not sure how to do.
