    Hi everyone. I have been working with Linux now for a month and think its so stable and smooth. But requires work if your coming across from Windows - the how do you question arises which is generally why I am here - and I guess its a good place to start!

    Question - I am struggling with my getting the correct display setting for my laptop which is an Acer Travelmate 2420 . Generally, how, what, I have no clue, I working with PC Linux OS Gnome. I have the laptop screen set at a low res. anyway and ive tryied working with other settings on here, I mean do I need to download the chipset display or something? Totally and utterly lost I just want the correct resolution.

    Hi and Welcome !

    Open Terminal/Konsole and execute this
    Code:
    sudo lspci | grep -i vga
    grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    Post output here.

    * X is Capital in X11.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
