    Normally the number and configuration of partitions on your hard drive is completely up to you. If you are running linux on a playstation, I wouldn't monkey around with the partitions too much for fear of killing the console operating system. That's just me though.

    PS3 has THE FASTEST processor, but it has not very much memory..
    For the partitions run the command fdisk -l and post the output here. You may need to be root to run this command.

    hey after writing the thread i examined the drives more carefully n came to know that they werent partitions....but CF,MS and SD drives. im really srry...im a newbie n i just installed YDL n was pretty over reacting.. srry again.......
    n another problem........i cannot install rpms .........YDL v5.0.1...........i read on net that there was some problem with YUM..........help!

    Without more detail I can't tell you much about why YUM is not working, but if you believe there is a problem with the system itself I would tell you to install whatever you need from source. YUM isn't required to run the Linux.

    it sounds like you need to follow a tutorial, like the one scrarfussi linked above.
