Lightbulb lightweight release to play DVD and XVID

    Hello everyone,
I'm a complete newbie related linux, but I'm looking for an option that would allow me to run a very lightweight version on linux instead of windows (dual boot), which will be able to play DVD and XVID movies (preferably with Hebrew subtitles).
It would be very useful during flights, since running windows and THEN opening a movie, takes many resources and reduce the battery life..

Do you have any suggestion for such intuitive release? (I prefer it would look like GNOME, but overall functionality is more important for me than beauty)

Will I be able to run it as a Live CD from my USB-stick, without being slow and taking up resources?

    Thanks!

Thanks! I think this one is right for me
Do you know about other releases or is this the most advanced?
