Retreive file from deleted user's home folder

    Hi,

Would appreciate if anyone could help out...

My colleague accidentally deleted a user and now the deleted user's home folder is replaced with a username.lock file. However, there are some files in the folder that we still need. Can anyone please tell me how to retrieve files from the deleted user's home folder?

    Thanks in advance!

As root, cd into the user's home directory and copy the files! What was used to "delete" the user? When I delete a user I take out the home directory at the same time.

    Hi,

The user was deleted using webmin.

The username was "quality" and the home folder was "/home/quality". after deletion of the user, the folder turned into a file called quality.lock in the /home folder.

Mmm, I'm not familiar with webmin, maybe you can find out from their website.
