What distribution of Linux is good for a laptop with these specs? :

    297 MHz Processor (Pentium 2)
    227 MB of RAM
IBM 600E laptop, uses wireless internet and printer constantly.
Also will use OpenOffice Word constantly.

I've tried some new distributions, but it says it fails the 2000 BIOS age check with a BIOS age of 1999.

It's not for me, it's for my dad. His laptop is starting to... well... run slower than anything I've ever seen. He is using Microsoft Windows XP Home SP3

Mods, please move or delete if completely useless.

    Hi, Melty! Welcome to LinuxForums!

Chack out this poll for a few opinions about older hardware.

    Welcome to the forums!

You might also do some searching for a BIOS upgrade. If you can get that updated it should help you make further progress. Otherwise, I'd think lots of distributions should be able to run on that hardware.

Zenwalk is one of my own favorite lightweight distros.

DSL (damn small linux) or Xubuntu would run fine (though the latter would probably be a little slow).
